The process of controlling the atmosphere in fresh produce storage has been around for hundreds of years and even found dating back to Egyptian times. However, within the last 100 years, it was our own founding company, Harry Lawrence Ltd, that built the UK’s first gas controlled store for a local apple grower.
Evolving from that first store, our technical division has developed the process and equipment to maximise quality and storage life for many fresh products including apples, pears, bananas, asparagus, blueberries, avocados, cabbages, potatos, onions, lettuce, kiwis, grapes and strawberries as well as discovering more that thrive from CA conditions.
The engineers at ICA designed the world’s very first automatic CA Control Systems in the 1970’s and have remained leaders in the field ever since.
The latest model, the ICA6000, is the 7th generation of controllers providing the next generation with more accurate gas control for produce storage providing better produce results, longer storage life and higher client profitability.
